Value-packed Tele with Vintage Vibe

The Squier Classic Vibe '50s Telecaster celebrates one of the world's most instantly recognizable guitars, with added modern features. Boasting a pine body with a classic finish, the Classic Vibe '50s Telecaster harkens back to the original "black guard" Teles that started it all, while two Fender-designed alnico single-coil pickups serve up legendary Tele twang. Check out this Squier Classic Vibe '50s Telecaster and tap into iconic Telecaster sound at an affordable price.

Original "black guard" experience

Certain electric guitars are credited with shaping modern music, and the 1950s Fender "black guard" Telecaster may be the most iconic of them all. With this Squier Classic Vibe '50s Telecaster, you can have a similar vintage tone and look at a price that any guitarist can afford. From the 3-saddle string-through-body bridge and vintage-style tuners to the single-ply black pickguard, this Tele is a smooth performer with unmistakable '50s vibe.

Custom set of alnico single-coil pickups

The discerning guitarists at Sweetwater know that to get a real vintage sound from a guitar, you need to start with great pickups. The Fender-designed alnico single-coil Tele pickups in the Squier Classic Vibe '50s Telecaster nail those classic tones. You'll love the clear, punchy sounds, which are perfect for playing country, blues, jazz, rock, or pop. Sonically (and visually), these pickups extend the vintage appeal of this guitar.

Vintage appointments with modern playability

The black pickguard, alnico pickups, 3-saddle bridge, and vintage tuning keys cover the vintage side of things. But the 9.5" fingerboard radius gives you a comfortable playing surface that allows for wider string bends than the 7.25" radius of vintage guitars. While being rounded enough for comfortable chording, this radius is perfect for double-stop bends, wide vibrato, and even bends over a whole step. And the modern C-shaped neck feels just right, smoothing the way for fleet-fingered fretting.

Squier Classic Vibe '50s Telecaster Features:

  • Pine body; gloss polyurethane finish
  • Maple neck, "C" profile
  • Maple fingerboard, 9.5" radius, dot inlays
  • 25.5" scale length, 21 Narrow Tall frets
  • Fender-designed alnico single-coil bridge and neck pickups
  • 3-way pickup selector; master Volume and Tone controls
  • 3-saddle string-through-body bridge
  • 1.65" nut
  • Vintage-style tuners

I like this Telecaster

I'm impressed with this inexpensive Tele. I've been playing since 1970 and have owned lots of high end Gibsons and Fenders. The alnico pickups in this classic vibe tele are very good. The action was set up fine by Sweetwater as it came. At 9 lbs, mine is a heavy guitar but it feels solid and stays put when I'm playing it. The pine resonates in a nice way. It plays and sounds as good as any guitar I own. The tinted neck looks good too. Mine came with a darker tint neck than most. I like it. It has thru-the-body stringing just like the original. I replaced the saddles with Wilkinson compensated saddles, not that it absolutely needed it, I just can't leave good enough alone. Thanks Sweetwater for stocking left handed guitars.

Loving the Vibe!

First off, Thanks to Chris Kress for the wonderful advice on choosing my first electric guitar. The Classic Vibe is beautiful and it's a lot of fun to play. For my purposes it's just about perfect. Frets are excellent as is the action - no adjustments needed. Packaging was insanely good. Shipping was super fast.
Music background: Keyboard & Sax background. Less than a year on guitar.

Squier telecaster 50’s vibe

I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of this guitar. The natural resonance is better than my les Paul that was much more expensive.
It's a lefty for my son who is just beginning. The tone and intonation are spot on. Lots of reviews will tell you the pickups and pots are cheap but, they sound great to me through a good tube amp.
I am very happy with this guitar.

Awesome guitar!!

I got this guitar today, a lefty version and wow! This thing is incredible! Sweetwater is no. 1! Got my guitar was delivered very quickly sweetwater doesn't mess around, there very good about letting you know when your guitar is shipped and will help you with any questions you have. The guitar was setup perfect and plays so nice. I eventually want to modify it a little, I wanna put in fender noiseless pickups and a different bridge…the only thing I don't like is how much the pickups hum but it's not a big deal. I gave this guitar 5 stars cause the build quality is top notch, the body and neck is built like a tank and will last a lifetime of playing. Don't pay any attention to those guitar snobs that look down on squires, with a couple modifications this thing will sound as good as the Mia fenders easlily, and you will save a fortune! If you recorded one with one of these up against a Mia fender the average person wouldn't even be able to tell the difference I promise you! If your on a tight budget get one of these things there amazing!

I bonded with this Telly.

There were so many great reviews about this guitar that I was actually thinking there was some sort of a scam going on. Finally, when it occurred to me there were places I didn't want to take my spendy pinky paisley tele, I decided to get this as a backup.
About half a year later, that paisley tele hasn't seen the outside of her case (sorry, lonely girl).
What I love: out of the box, it feels great, is built very solid, and sounds very good. It stays in tune.
What I did to it since buying it:
1. Changed the pickups (again, the original ones are pretty good, and you may actually prefer them, but there is a particular "fizz" and "honk" I like in a tele that I needed to get).
2. I polished the frets. Out of the box, the frets are almost perfect. With a little scrubbing, it feels just as good as an American (in fact, I prefer these beefier frets to my MIJ tele).

So, I've actually found myself coming close to buying a backup to this backup, but I strongly suspect that unless this one gets stolen (and who's gonna risk stealing something with "Squier" on the headstock) I'll never need one. I'm fully confident this one will last a lifetime.
Music background: blues, funk guitarist
